In 1881 the Bowron
Rugs
began when two brothers
started a small tannery in
Christchurch, New Zealand.
This small tannery would
eventually evolve into
something much bigger. Today,
the name “Bowron” is
synonymous with some of the
world’s finest sheepskin and
lambskin products. The 42 step
tanning method pioneered in
the 1880s has been constantly
refined and is still used
today, more than 100 years
later. With an unmatched
commitment to quality and the
finest raw materials, rest
assured you are getting the
best value and peace of mind.
The superior quality of
Bowron
sheepskins and
lambskins is due to their
location in the midst of the
finest flocks
of lamb. The tanning facility
in New Zealand is near prime
sheep farming areas ensuring
premium quality products.
Bowron staff works within
these manufacturing plants
where the material is created
and only allows the finest
materials to be used. They
strive to not only exceed
customer expectations in terms
of quality and cost but more
importantly the health, safety
and environmental
requirements. The traditional
way to mass produce sheepskin
rugs came at a grave cost.
Heavy water consumptions and
lethal chemicals were often
used in the past. Today,
cutting edge chemistry and a
strong research and
development team allows them
to produce superior quality
sheepskin
rugs without
jeopardizing the integrity of
the environment. Eco-friendly
environments are extremely
important to the Bowron name
and their customers.
Bowron is required to deliver
large volumes of top of the
line products on time. Their
world class manufacturing
facilities combined along with
a dedicated team of personnel
